Welcome to Last Chance Equine
About us:
We occasionally take on a remedial horse that for whatever reason has not yet realised his/her potential. This may be a horse that has become confused or frightened during training and as a result has developed 'issues', or may simply be unhandled horses that as yet don't know much about people.
Here are some examples:
- Problem horses
- Unhandled horses
- Needy/neglected horses
Horses usually stay with us for at least 6 - 12 months and sometimes years. The costs of keeping a horse for this amount of time, along with expenses that may be incured for vets, back specialists etc are huge so as one can imagine LCE is very much a labour of love, we don't do this for a living and have 'proper jobs' to support our horses.

What we do:
Upon arrival each horse is first given 'time out' in the field with our pet horses. This gives them time to settle in and get used to their new home and way of life. When ready we asses each horse and devise a training and care plan based upon the current level of training they have recieved, this also gives us chance to prepare for any issues or problems that we and the horse may encounter.
Idyllic life

Soon a horse is ready to begin training. This is when the fun starts! Working with problem horses brings a fresh challenge with each new face, However with quiet consistent work they all improve eventually.
We are not task/goal orientated - we allow horses to progress at their own pace.
Outrageous behaviour

By far the greatest method we employ with our animals is time. This may be time spent leading a nervous horse out in traffic, time spent waiting for a reluctant or nappy horse to decide to go out on a hack or time spent quietly brushing a young unhandled horse until he grows to enjoy our company.
We also believe that all horses are good at and can enjoy some kind of work if they are first given the skills required. This is basically what we are here for.
Not for sale!

When our horse has progressed sufficiantly we begin looking for a suitable home for him. We only sell to people that we are confident will be able to ride, care for and love our horses! For this reason we fully encourage vets and trainers to visit prior to purchase. Any horse we offer for sale will be:
- good with blacksmith
- good to clip
- good to load
- safe to ride alone and with company
- sound
- open to any vet or trainer
- good to catch
What we don't do:
When with us, no horse is ever:
- yelled at
- hit or kicked
- subjected to radical training devices
- abused or intimidated in any way
We do not offer for sale any horse that :
- rears
- bucks
- naps
- kicks/bites
- is unsound
- is unsafe
We have sold horses that have enjoyed careers in; hunting, jumping, driving, happy hacking, kids ponys, riding school cobs. Some of these may be seen below.
